1/3/2017
Rep. Matthew Dowling (R-Fayette/Somerset) took the oath of office to represent the residents of the 51st Legislative District, marking the beginning of the 2017-18 session of the Pennsylvania General Assembly.
HARRISBURG – As part of the beginning of the 201st Session of the Pennsylvania General Assembly, Rep. Matthew Dowling (R-Fayette/Somerset) was sworn-in to begin his first term serving the 51st Legislative District in the House.

“It is an honor to step up to represent the great residents of our communities,” said Dowling. “As I take the oath of office to uphold the constitutions of the United States and Pennsylvania, I pledge to give my best effort to bring the issues that concern the people of the 51st district to this House chamber. As a person with a strong background in business, I want to aid in creating jobs in our region and in all of the Commonwealth. We must adhere to a policy of helping our hard-working taxpayers in this coming session.”

Dowling, a native of Uniontown, said he will work to continue to encourage small business development, given the fact that there are nearly 1 million small businesses in the Commonwealth. He started his own business, Coordinated 360, and is a member of the Uniontown Planning Commission.

The day featured the swearing-in of legislators and a joint session of the entire General Assembly to certify the election returns of the offices of the attorney general, auditor general and treasurer.
