Pennsylvania Long-Term Care Council Begins Work, Says Hennessey
HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Long-Term Care Council, designed to improve the quality of care and quality of life for Pennsylvanians, held its first meeting this week, council member Rep. Tim Hennessey (R-Chester/Montgomery) said today.
“The council has 35 members who hail from the General Assembly, administration departments, senior service providers and others. They have been tasked with developing recommendations to ensure that seniors and persons with developmental disabilities have access to needed quality programs which match an individual’s needs,” said Hennessey. “With the depth of experience this group brings to the table, I’m sure this will result in positive actions for those who depend on these services.”
Hennessey served as chairman of the House Aging and Older Adult Services Committee in the recently completed 2015-16 Legislative Session.
The council was created by
Act 64 of 2015, authored by Rep. Linda Schlegel-Culver (R-Northumberland/Snyder). Hennessey, who co-sponsored the legislation, was instrumental in the act’s passage in committee, and the full House. Specifically, the council is charged with making recommendations on PDA regulations, finances, licensing and overall responsibilities dealing with long-term care services and support systems.
Hennessey said Department of Aging Secretary Teresa Osborne is serving as council chair.
