Farry Receives Two Awards in Recognition of Legislative Efforts
LANGHORNE – State Rep. Frank Farry (R-Bucks) recently received two awards from advocacy groups in recognition of his legislative efforts in the House of Representatives.
The Philadelphia Firefighters and Paramedics Union Local No. 22 selected Farry to receive the Firefighters Friend Award, which is given to a member of the community who has done outstanding work in supporting the organization’s mission.
Farry recently championed a measure (
House Bill 2148) through the House of Representatives, which would expand disability coverage to Philadelphia EMS personnel and state-employed firefighters, who were overlooked when the Enforcement Officer Disability Benefits Law was originally drafted.
“While this legislation is still a work in progress, it’s taken a huge step forward in the legislative process by receiving House support,” Farry said. “If enacted, this legislation would provide our first responders with responsible medical protections they need, and without question deserve, for their service to our communities.”
Farry was also selected to receive the 2016 Legislator of the Year award from the Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association (PPA) for his support of pharmacy issues through recent legislative work.
The PPA specifically selected Farry to receive the award for his leadership on House Bill 2069, which would increase the income eligibility guidelines for the state’s PACENET program, extending prescription drug coverage to over 32,000 older Pennsylvanians.
“It is an honor to be recognized for this legislation, but the greatest reward is knowing that more older Pennsylvanians will be able to afford the prescriptions they need to maintain healthy lives,” Farry said.
The Philadelphia Firefighters and Paramedics Union is Local No. 22 of the International Association of Firefighters, which represents over a quarter million professional firefighters and paramedics in the United States and Canada.
The PPA represents pharmacists, student pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and other members across all practice settings, who work to advance the profession and deliver the best possible care for patients across the Commonwealth.
“Both of these organizations have earned the respect of the communities they represent and it’s quite an honor to be recognized by their membership. I will continue the fight for a better state government on behalf of all residents of the 142nd District,” Farry added.
Farry was previously recognized by medical organizations, child advocacy groups, drug and alcohol safety councils, and small business organizations for his legislative efforts. He also received the James Baird Award from the Firemen’s Legislative Federation of Pennsylvania and the Jesse W. Soby from American Legion Post No. 148.
