Hershey Praises Bill Targeting Frivolous Lawsuits
11/20/2020
HARRISBURG ¬– A House bill that would protect businesses, schools, nursing homes and others from frivolous lawsuits passed both the House and Senate, and awaits the governor’s signature to become law.

Rep. John Hershey (R-Mifflin/Juniata/Franklin) supported House Bill 1737 with “yes” votes because he feels businesses need commonsense protections from liability during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Businesses deserve protection from lawsuits where no party is at fault for injuries or damages. They don’t need to be burdened with court costs and protracted legal battles when they are operating in good faith,” Hershey said.

The bill does not extend protections for gross negligence or operating with no regard for public safety.

Hershey said he was proud to support efforts to help the small business community in Pennsylvania.
