Warner Votes to Restore Wolf Cuts, Close 2015-16 Budget
HARRISBURG – Rep. Ryan Warner (R-Fayette/Westmoreland) today voted in support of a supplemental budget, which would restore Gov. Tom Wolf’s cuts to education and agriculture, and close out the 2015-16 state budget without tax increases.
In addition to restoring Wolf’s cuts, the spending plan,
House Bill 1801, would also increase basic education funding by more than $200 million. Warner issued the following statement after the vote:
“This is a good budget and a great compromise. It restores the critically important agriculture funding cut by Gov. Wolf, and not only restores his cuts to basic education, but makes a historic investment, all without increasing taxes on working Pennsylvanians.
“The supplemental budget closes the books for 2015-16 by limiting the growth of government and spending taxpayer dollars responsibly. It allows the state to move forward from the unacceptable impacts of the budget fight in Harrisburg.
“If Gov. Wolf truly cares about education, as he has stated multiple times, he will sign this budget. I urge him to do the right thing.”
