Fink: House Democrats Need to Stop Playing Budget Games
7/14/2025
HARRISBURG – Today, House Democrats put forth and passed House Bill 1330, a $50.61 billion spending plan for Fiscal Year 2025-26. Rep. Wendy Fink (R-Red Lion) called the rush action by the House’s majority party a game, as this version of the legislation does not reflect a negotiated product and will face challenges in the GOP-controlled Senate.

“Today’s moves by House Democrats reflect the games they’re willing to play with the hard-earned dollars of the taxpayers we all represent,” said Fink. “The ‘budget’ measure amended and approved today is a gimmick that did not face true scrutiny. The Senate is very unlikely to approve this legislation, as it contains none of its input.

“It’s time to stop playing around. This is important legislation that should be introduced, scrutinized and negotiated in the light of day. I am incredibly disappointed by the lack of time and information presented ahead of this vote, and I’m not willing to approve a budget without fully understanding its financial impact on my constituents.

“Because this sham of a budget spends so much while neglecting to grow the economy, the cost will undoubtedly get passed along to taxpayers who are already struggling to pay their household bills due to the cost of living. This is unacceptable.

“I was a firm ‘no’ vote on House Bill 1330, and I’m hopeful the Senate will swiftly reject it. I look forward to considering an authentic, negotiated budget – one that respects the taxpayers I represent.”
