Delozier Reacts, Voices Frustration Over Budget Gimmicks
7/14/2025
HARRISBURG – Citing partisan gimmicks and irresponsible procedural maneuvers, state Rep. Sheryl M. Delozier today voted “no” on House Bill 1330, House Democrats’ $50.61 billion budget proposal.

The House Appropriations Committee amended the bill earlier today, giving members little to no time to review the changes made by the amendment before quickly bringing the bill to the House chamber for final consideration.

In response, Delozier issued the following statement:

“The budget actions taken by House Democrats today are disingenuous at best. House Bill 1330 is not an agreed-to compromise with the Senate. This is not a product that will be voted on in the Senate. The bill passed today merely represents the checking of a box for House Democrats.

“House Democrats are touting legislative victories, but none of the examples they’re citing, like taxes on skill games and recreational marijuana will be signed into law because the Senate will not adopt the bills as drafted.

“The June 30 deadline is in place for a reason, and it has impacts in our communities. Waiting until July 14 to pass this type of legislation, which is not an agreed-to compromise, is a disservice to our constituencies. This is simply grandstanding to capture headlines, without doing the hard work of reaching an actual compromise. We’re sent to Harrisburg to work together on a consensus for the future. Our deadline is a real one for many of our constituents. They deserve better.

“Our caucus has been strongly advocating for investment in the state’s energy industry, which has tremendous economic potential. We are also fighting to back up our students and families, who will be asked to foot the bill. We cannot spend money we don’t have. With all these issues in mind, and too much unknown, I had to vote in the negative.

“I’m not willing to pass a budget without consensus or broad understanding of what’s in it, particularly considering that it would saddle Pennsylvanians with the consequences of the mistakes made today. This is not responsive to constituents of the 88th District.”
