HARRISBURG – Rep. Jeremy Shaffer (R-Allegheny) today announced he’s been named to the state House Transportation Committee. Shaffer, an engineer with a Carnegie Mellon doctorate and deep experience in transportation safety, is looking forward to advancing infrastructure solutions.
“I look forward to using my experience to help shape policies that strengthen Pennsylvania’s transportation network, improve safety and ensure our infrastructure meets the needs of our communities for years to come,” Shaffer said.
The House Transportation Committee plays a critical role in shaping policies that impact Pennsylvania roads, bridges and infrastructure across the Commonwealth.
“My extensive background uniquely positions me for the role on the House Transportation Committee,” Shaffer said. “I look forward to working in a bipartisan manner to promote smart investments, improve safety and ensure our transportation system supports economic growth and quality of life for all Pennsylvanians.”
Shaffer earned a doctorate in electrical and computer engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, where he co-founded a company that developed software to improve bridge and road safety through better inspection and management. Over the years, he has served on national and international transportation committees, including the Transportation Research Board’s Committee on Bridge Management and the Federal Highway Administration’s Bridge Preservation Expert Task Group. He also served on the executive committee of the International Bridge Conference and has authored papers or presented at more than 40 transportation conferences.
Shaffer is also a member of the House Commerce, Housing and Community Development, and State Government committees.
