Chairman Saylor Calls for Tuition Freeze
6/26/2018
HARRISBURG – With the inclusion of a 3.3 percent increase in funding for the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education and a 3 percent increase for Penn State, Temple, University of Pittsburgh, and Lincoln University, House Appropriations Chairman Stan Saylor (R-York) is calling on these universities to not increase their tuition for the upcoming school year.

“With inclusion in the budget of these increases for our state-owned universities and for Penn State, Temple, University of Pittsburgh, and Lincoln University it is incumbent on these institutions of higher education to hold the line on tuition increases for the 2018-19 school year. The General Assembly approved these increases to help protect students from tuition increases and these institutions now must step up and do their part. These schools have the ability to control the cost of higher education and they must put students first.”

The Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education is made up of Bloomsburg University, California University of Pennsylvania, Clarion University, East Stroudsburg University, Edinboro University, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Kutztown University, Lock Haven University, Mansfield University, Millersville University, Shippensburg University, Slippery Rock University and West Chester University.
