House Approves Bill to Improve PennWATCH Site, Says Toepel
10/22/2019
Legislation would add workplace/sexual harassment settlements to website
HARRISBURG - A bill sponsored by Rep. Marcy Toepel (R-Montgomery) that would include information on the state’s PennWATCH website about each settlement paid as a result of an action taken by an employee of a Commonwealth agency was unanimously approved by the House of Representatives today.

The PennWATCH website was created for user-friendly monitoring of all state department and agency budget expenditures and investments. However, the current website does not include information on settlements paid as the result of an action taken by a state employee, such as a sexual harassment settlement.

“My legislation is the result of a Joint State Government Commission report on workplace harassment/sexual harassment settlements that were never disclosed to the public or the Legislature,” said Toepel. “Including this information on the website will provide residents with an easier way of monitoring how their taxpayer dollars are being spent.”

House Bill 1803 now goes to the state Senate for consideration.
