RGGI by Another Name: Mercuri Opposes Shapiro Energy Plan
HARRISBURG – In response to Gov. Josh Shapiro’s recently proposed energy plan on March 13, in Scranton, Rep. Rob Mercuri (R-Allegheny) released the following statement.
“The Shapiro energy plan, similar to the Biden energy plan, is a plan to limit opportunity and further government dependency for Pennsylvania’s families. The energy economy in Western Pennsylvania should be booming but is being throttled by a climate agenda with no end game in sight.
“This proposed plan shows no interest in creating real jobs for hard-working Pennsylvanians. I encourage Gov. Shapiro to release the throttle by ending the appeals and litigation related to the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) and canceling his plans for a new carbon tax. We must let the Commonwealth’s energy economy boom, rather than trying to appease climate activists who will not be satisfied until the lights go out in Pennsylvania. This plan is simply RGGI by another name.”
