Speaker Appoints David B. White to Port Authority of Allegheny County
(HARRISBURG) – House Speaker Sam Smith today announced his appointment of David B. White, an attorney in Pittsburgh, to the Port Authority of Allegheny County board of directors.
“Dave brings more than 30 years of legal experience and an in-depth knowledge of the Allegheny County area to this position,” Smith said. “Throughout the years he has interacted with government officials and community leaders throughout the county and built relationships that will serve him well in this new capacity. He will be an excellent addition to the authority.”
White is a partner in the Pittsburgh law firm of Burns White where he has represented a wide spectrum of clients from Fortune 500 corporations to smaller start-up businesses. He has worked with individuals across a variety of organizations and industries.
His practice specializes in several different areas of litigation including product liability, commercial, professional malpractice, employment, financial institution and energy.
“During his years as a practicing attorney, Dave has been both a litigator and a trial attorney,” Smith noted. “He is a skilled mediator who has considerable experience in dispute resolution. His vast skill set and breadth of professional experiences make him uniquely qualified to handle this oversight responsibility.”
White is a graduate of Duquesne University and the university’s School of Law. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Pennsylvania Bar Association and Allegheny County Bar Association.

The Port Authority of Allegheny County was created by the Pennsylvania Legislature in 1959. It authorized the consolidation of 33 private transit carriers, the Pittsburgh Railways Company and independent bus and inclined plane companies. The authority is governed by an 11-member board of directors. Smith, as speaker of the House, is responsible for the appointment of one of the 11 members.
