Joanne Stehr (R-Northumberland/Schuylkill) is offering veteran assistance hours on the third Wednesday of each month at her Shamokin district office to provide aid to local veterans in the 107th Legislative District. Assistance hours will begin on Wednesday, May 15, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at 300 E. Independence St. in Shamokin.

Supporters of the state’s agriculture industry will gather at the state Capitol for the Second Annual Blessing of the Balers and “May is Beef Month” celebration. The event is hosted by state Rep. Bud Cook (R-Greene/Washington) and the Pennsylvania Beef Council, in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, Pennsylvania Livestock Association, Pennsylvania Cattlemen’s Association and Center for Beef Excellence. Two tractors and balers will be on-site for the event.

Local School Districts Receive Food Service Equipment Grants, Kail Says

BEAVER, PA—Four local school districts are receiving funding to purchase new food service equipment for cafeterias because of grants awarded by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE). Funding for the grants is made available through the U.S. Department of Agriculture and is awarded to schools that participate in the National School Lunch Program.
