HARRISBURG – Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Mercer) announced the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) awarded the Borough of Sharpsville $500,000 for existing owner-occupied housing in partnership with the Lawrence County Community Action Partnership. The funding is through the HOME Investment Partnership Program, which provides municipalities with grant and loan assistance to expand and preserve affordable housing.

Thomas Kutz (R-Cumberland) will be hosting a ceremony dedicating the bridge carrying Route 34 over Mountain Creek in Mount Holly Springs in honor of fallen firefighter and community hero Jerome Guise. Guise gave his life in service to the community on March 9, 2020, when the porch of a house collapsed during a two-alarm fire.

There is $2.5 billion in new or expanded spending on government programs, which will increase our budget in future years. Chairman Grove ended his questions with Sec. Monson by saying, “If I were planning to do a get out of business sale, this is the kind of budget I would do. I would empty my reserves, sell my assets, and get out of town.”
