HARRISBURG – With a focus on investing in the future of Pennsylvania, Rep. Jonathan Fritz (R-Susquehanna/Wayne) announced today that both the House and Senate have passed the 2019-20 state budget bill,
House Bill 790.
The proposal is set to spend approximately $33.99 billion and does not call for any new fees or taxes for Pennsylvania residents. It would spend $149 million less than the governor’s budget proposal earlier this year.
“With our determination to cut back and manage our state’s spending, as well as a strong economy, we have seen a definite uptick in our state’s revenues,” said Fritz. “This has allowed us to pour $250 million back into our once dwindling Rainy Day Fund, further invest money in Pennsylvania’s education system, and increase our pension fund contributions. All of this has been accomplished without a severance tax, bailouts or new taxes and fees.”
Fritz added, “Instead of raising taxes and increasing the burdens on the taxpayers, we are focused on growing our state’s economy to produce real results for the financial well-being of the Commonwealth and its taxpayers.”
House Bill 790 now goes to the governor’s desk and is expected to be completed before the Sunday, June 30 deadline.
