WHAT: The House and Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs committees will hold a joint informational meeting to discuss dangerous livestock disease threats and the importance of biosecurity/efforts to keep the food supply secure.
WHO: Members of both committees, including majority chairmen Rep. Martin Causer (R-Cameron/McKean/Potter) and Sen. Elder Vogel (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence). Making presentations before the committee will be Russell C. Redding, secretary, Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture; Dr. Richard Roush, dean, College of Agricultural Sciences, The Pennsylvania State University; Kevin Brightbill, DVM, state veterinarian and director, Bureau of Animal Health and Diagnostic Services, PA Department of Agriculture; and Ernest Hovingh, DVM, Ph.D., Veterinary Extension, Field Investigation and Research, Department of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences, The Pennsylvania State University.
WHEN: Wednesday, Aug. 14, at 9:30 a.m.
WHERE: Russell E. Larson Ag Research Center, 2710 West Pine Grove Road, Pennsylvania Furnace, PA 16865. The meeting will be held in the theater area of the College of Agricultural Sciences Exhibits Building.
