HARRISBURG – Rep. Jack Rader (R-Monroe) issued the following statement after Gov. Tom Wolf unveiled his proposal for the 2017-18 budget earlier today:

“This morning, Gov. Tom Wolf showed he has heard our calls for smaller government. I am very interested in the details of his proposed cuts and hope to learn more in the coming weeks. I believe we can make government more efficient without cutting services for Pennsylvanians who need them most.

“We must shrink our state government properly and thoughtfully – not with a sledgehammer. It is critical that in our quest to eliminate inefficiencies, we do not stop funding programs that are working. However, the state budget is the most important task of the Legislature each year and we must take action to address our state’s financial problems before they get any worse. I think we can work together with the governor and the Senate to create an on-time budget that accomplishes these things in a reasonable manner.”
