HARRISBURG – Rep. Jonathan Fritz (R-Susquehanna/Wayne) stood with his colleagues today as they held a press conference advocating for the House-led Energize PA initiative. This initiative is centered on redeveloping Pennsylvania’s infrastructure while also promoting employment and economic growth.

“Through this initiative, we are looking to bring in and expand employment opportunities as well as allow our economy to continue to flourish,” said Fritz. “Thanks to affordable, abundant, clean-burning natural gas, Pennsylvania’s economic growth is being fueled by our very own natural resources.”

Fritz was the prime sponsor of Energize PA legislation, House Bill 1103, now Act 20 of 2019, which makes grants available to construct the last few miles of distribution lines to business parks and existing manufacturing and industrial enterprises, accelerate beneficial deployment of low-cost energy and results in the creation of new economic base jobs in the Commonwealth while providing access to natural gas for residents.

The following Energize PA legislation is still awaiting consideration:

HB 1100 (Kaufer): Creates the Energy and Fertilizer Manufacturing Tax Credit.

HB 1101 (Mihalek): Increases the percentage rate cap for net operating losses (NOLs) from 40 % to 45% in 2020, and 50% in tax year 2021.

HB 1102 (Kail): Creates the Keystone Energy Enhancement Act (KEEA), designed to facilitate economic growth and encourage capital investment within Pennsylvania’s natural gas, manufacturing and petrochemical industries.

HB 1104 (Toohil): Requires Department Community and Economic Developement to establish a registry for abandoned manufacturing sites across Pennsylvania.

HB 1105 (Nelson): Creates a consolidated standard permit for anyone conducting remediation activities under the Land Recycling and Environmental Remediation Standards Act.

HB 1106 (Puskaric): Provides a comprehensive overhaul of the permitting process for all general and individual environmental permits, as well as general plan approvals.

HB 1107 (O’Neal): Establishes the Pennsylvania Permitting Commission.
