HARRISBURG – With transportation infrastructure being one of the most challenging issues facing the Commonwealth, Rep. Ryan Warner (R-Fayette/Westmoreland) has been appointed to serve on the House Transportation Committee.

“The condition of our roads and bridges, effectiveness of our traffic laws, and funding for highway repairs and mass transit are just a few of the many issues that fall under the jurisdiction of the Transportation Committee,” Warner said. “I look forward to the opportunity to help ensure we are meeting the needs of all drivers, both in terms of safety and efficiency.

“With Pennsylvanians paying some of the highest fuel taxes in the nation, my ultimate goal is to reduce that burden. But until that happens, we owe it to our taxpayers to ensure their hard-earned dollars are being invested wisely in improving the condition of our roads and bridges,” he added.

Transportation is one of nearly two dozen standing committees in the House of Representatives. Bills introduced by lawmakers are referred to committee first, where members are tasked with vetting the proposal, making improvements and determining whether the bill should be advanced to the full House for consideration.

Warner noted the appointment is in addition to his appointment earlier this summer to a newly formed task force charged with outlining the next steps to ensure the Commonwealth’s transportation and infrastructure systems are ready for future economic growth.

“In both roles, I will work to represent the best interests of the people of Fayette and Westmoreland counties, as well as the entire state,” he said.

Warner also serves on the House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee, on which he serves as chairman of the Subcommittee on Energy, as well as the Appropriations, Game and Fisheries, and Gaming Oversight committees.
