HARRISBURG – This week, Rep. Alex Charlton (R-Springfield) was appointed to serve on the following the House committees during the 2017-18 legislative session: Health, Human Services, Tourism and Recreational Development, and Urban Affairs.

These and other standing committees of the House provide legislative oversight, helping shape language in bills as they work their way toward the House floor for full votes.

“These committee assignments will allow me to directly affect issues impacting the metropolitan Philadelphia area, including Delaware County,” said Charlton. “The Urban Affairs Committee reviews legislation related to regional economic growth and job creation, as well as land use and the preservation of open space – all key issues in our region.”

Tourism is also a major component of the economy in southeast Pennsylvania, which hosts historical sites of national importance, major conventions, world-class entertainment venues and cultural events.

Regarding his appointment to both the Human Services and Health committees, Charlton said, “I have a strong interest in strengthening programs serving individuals with disabilities and special needs. My appointment to these committees will provide me with an opportunity to shape policy in this area, ensuring our most vulnerable citizens are not left behind.”
