Takes on leadership role in Appropriations and Tourism Committees
HARRISBURG – Rep. Karen Boback (R-Lackawanna/Luzerne/Wyoming) was this week called to serve on the House Appropriations, Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness, Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and Tourism and Recreational Development committees. Additionally, Boback was named chair of the Appropriations subcommittee on Education; chair of the Tourism and Recreational Development subcommittee on Arts and Entertainment; and deputy chair of the House Majority Policy Committee for this session.

“Agriculture and tourism are Pennsylvania’s No. 1 and No. 2 industries, respectively, and I am excited to serve on the House committees that examine these relevant issues. I take my committee assignments very seriously and am looking forward to working with my colleagues on legislative issues to ensure our state remains a great place to live, work and raise a family,” said Boback.

“I am so pleased to be serving on these committees because they aptly capture many of the issues facing the 117th Legislative District. The Endless Mountain region is a tourist destination, in addition to being home to many veterans and an active agricultural community. In my role as a legislator, I have the opportunity to interact with some of our community’s best and brightest young people, and I am committed to doing all I can to help create for them a promising future,” said Boback.

This session, Boback hopes to continue important legislative work started in the last legislative session, including civics education, consumer protection for senior citizens, and efforts to curb the state’s opioid abuse crisis, among others.
