HARRISBURG – The House Majority Policy Committee announced that Rep. Kate Klunk (R-Hanover) will serve as a deputy policy chair for the committee during the 2017-18 legislative session.
“I am honored to have been selected to serve in this capacity for a second term,” Klunk said. “I know firsthand how much of an impact the work of this committee has on legislation we work on in the General Assembly.”
Klunk noted that during the last session, the committee held a series of hearings across the state, including one in York County, to gather testimony about the opioid epidemic. The testimony helped shape numerous pieces of legislation to combat drug abuse, which later became law.
The committee travels across the state, conducting hearings and roundtable discussions about important issues to gather testimony and information from key stakeholders. Klunk will attend these hearings and work with her colleagues in the House Republican Caucus to develop policies to address the issues that matter most to Pennsylvania citizens.
“Even as a freshman legislator, Rep. Klunk’s energy, work ethic and creative ideas made a big impact on the direction and the success of the Policy Committee,” House Majority Policy chairman Kerry Benninghoff said. “I am looking forward to continuing to work alongside her as the committee takes on some significant policy issues this new legislative session.”
