HARRISBURG – The House Majority Policy Committee announced this week that Rep. Jesse Topper (R-Bedford/Franklin/Fulton) will serve as a deputy policy chair for the committee during the 2017-18 legislative session.
“It is a great honor to be asked to serve as a deputy policy chair and I eagerly accepted the responsibility,” Topper said. “I’m excited for the opportunity to hear from residents from throughout the state and to help guide the direction of legislation that will be debated and acted upon over the course of the next two years.”
The committee will travel across the state, conducting hearings and roundtable discussions about important issues to gather testimony and information from key stakeholders. Topper will attend these hearings and work with his colleagues in the House Republican Caucus to develop policies to address the issues that matter most to Pennsylvania citizens.
“During his time in the Legislature, Rep. Topper has proven to be an innovative thinker and hard worker,” House Majority Policy Committee chairman Kerry Benninghoff said. “I am thrilled that he will be joining our committee as a deputy chair and believe that he will be an incredible asset as we work to solve the many challenges facing Pennsylvania.”
Topper said several issues he hopes will be addressed during the statewide discussions include: the state’s public pension systems; restoring fiscal discipline in state government; revitalizing Pennsylvania’s business climate to create good; family-sustaining jobs; and improving the quality of educational opportunities.
