HARRISBURG – Rep. Chris Quinn (R-Delaware) officially began his first full term as state representative of the 168th Legislative District today, joining nearly 200 of his House colleagues in taking the oath of office at noon at the state Capitol in Harrisburg.

In a special election last summer, Quinn was chosen to fill the 168th District House seat once held by the late Speaker Matthew J. Ryan, and more recently Tom Killion, who now serves in the state Senate.

“I am grateful to the citizens of the 168th Legislative District for entrusting me to represent them in Harrisburg,” said Quinn.  “We have many important issues on the agenda for the 2017-18 session, not the least of which will be a very challenging state budget.”

The father of three young daughters, Quinn supports sensible education spending, the preservation of open spaces and a solution to Pennsylvania’s pension crisis, which threatens to burden future generations.  Quinn vowed to work with his House colleagues on efforts to solve the state’s opioid crisis and to ensure senior citizens and other vulnerable populations receive the support they need.

“As the owner of a small business, I understand the challenges of small businesses face,” said Quinn.  “I will work with my House colleagues to promote business-friendly initiatives that will attract employers to the Commonwealth and create family-sustaining jobs.  I look forward with enthusiasm to the challenges ahead and to serving the citizens who sent me here.”

The 168th Legislative District includes Media and Chester Heights boroughs as well as Middletown, Edgemont, Newtown, Upper Providence and Thornbury townships, and part of Marple Township.
