On Tuesday, Jan. 3, Rep. James R. Santora (R-Delaware) took the oath of office as the representative for the 163rd Legislative District. |
HARRISBURG – Rep. James R. Santora (R-Delaware) today took the oath of office to begin the 2017-18 legislative session in the state House of Representatives working for the 163rd District.
With this ceremony, Santora began his second term in office. The day’s proceedings also included the formal election of Rep. Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) as House speaker, as well as voting on rules to govern the body for the next two years.
“There are many important issues to be addressed this session, and one I intend to spearhead is the use of radar guns by local police as a means of increased safety,” Santora said. “I have heard from a number of residents asking for the change, and it would complement our efforts to respond to safety concerns regarding Township Line Road.”
In November, Santora announced a $1.5 million project to combat the danger of Township Line Road from State Road 1 to Lansdowne Avenue. The safety project, which is slated to begin this spring, will include traffic calming devices such as larger speed limit signs and electronic speed signs. PennDOT will also be adding a middle turn lane.
The House will return to voting session on Jan. 23. Santora has not yet been assigned to the committees on which he’ll serve, but will announce that information when it is available. Last session, he served on the House Professional Licensure, Local Government, Urban Affairs, and Children and Youth committees.
Santora noted that residents are encouraged to visit his website,
