HARRISBURG – Rep. Tom Quigley (R-Montgomery) today took the oath of office to begin the 2017-18 legislative session in the state House of Representatives working for the 146th District.

With this ceremony, Quigley began his sixth term in office. The day’s proceedings also included the formal election of Rep. Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) as House speaker, as well as voting on rules to govern the body for the next two years.

“During this legislative session, I am eager to work to pass important legislation for which residents of the 146th District have indicated their support, including property tax reform and protections against the opioid epidemic,” Quigley said. “Of course, I will also be drafting bills, including one that would provide for a sentence enhancement for indecent exposure when the offense is committed in the presence of a person under the age of 16.”

The House will return to a new voting session on Jan. 23. Quigley has not yet been assigned to the committees on which he’ll serve, but will announce that information when it is available. Last session, he served on the House Consumer Affairs, Education, Finance and Human Services committees.

Quigley noted that residents are encouraged to visit his website, RepTomQuigley.com, and his Facebook page at Facebook.com/RepTomQuigley.
