HARRISBURG- Rep. Stan Saylor (R-York) was sworn in for his 13th term as state representative for the 94th Legislative District on Tuesday. In taking the oath of office, Saylor will serve another two-year term representing the residents of York County.

“It is humbling to have once again earned the trust and support from the people in southeastern York County,” Saylor said. “It is a privilege to represent our area in Harrisburg on important issues such as job creation, pension reform and maintaining a great education system.”

In addition to representing the people of the 94th district, Saylor will also serve as the majority chairman of House Appropriations Committee for the 2017-18 legislative session. As majority chairman, Saylor will be responsible for leading the Republican Caucus in crafting the annual state budget.

“It is no secret the Commonwealth faces some tough challenges with respect to the budget. We as a Republican Caucus plan to hit the ground running in order to pass a balanced, on-time budget that is fiscally responsible and respectful of the taxpayer,” Saylor said.

He also emphasized the importance of trying new approaches to solve the budget problem. “This past election showed us the people of Pennsylvania are tired of the status quo. They are looking to us as leaders to be innovative with the way state government runs. I am committed to examining each and every part of state government to get a better understanding of what we can change to provide a more efficient and affordable product to the taxpayers of Pennsylvania. Raising taxes, especially the personal income tax and sales tax, should be an option of last resort, and that is something that I am not interested in pursuing.”

In addition to serving as the chairman of the Appropriations Committee, Saylor will serve on the Committee on Committees, which is tasked with recommending the members who are to serve on the standing committees of the House. Further, Saylor will serve on the House Rules Committee, which is responsible for making recommendations to improve and expedite the business and procedure of the House and its committees and to propose to the House any amendments to the rules deemed necessary.
The 94th Legislative District includes the townships of Peach Bottom, Lower Chanceford, Chanceford, Windsor, Lower Windsor, Springettsbury and the boroughs of Delta, East Prospect, Felton, Yorkana, Red Lion and Windsor.
