HARRISBURG -- Rep. Martina White (R-Philadelphia) was sworn in today to serve the people of the 170th District in Northeast Philadelphia. She is serving her first full term after winning a special election in 2015.
“I am honored to continue representing the people of Northeast Philadelphia, and I will continue my fight for the working families of our communities,” White said. “That means fighting for high quality schools, better-paying jobs, and for public safety.”
In the previous term, Rep. White ranked as a top ten legislator for percentage of bills introduced to bills signed into law as ranked by Pennsylvania Legislative Services. She also helped secure record funding for Pennsylvania schools without raising personal income or sales taxes.
In the new session, Rep. White will introduce legislation to create a sustainable funding source to help our schools without increasing the burden on taxpayers; protect our police officers and their families; and to make sanctuary cities liable for damages committed by illegal immigrants who commit crimes against citizens.
White was first elected in the March 24, 2015, special election to complete the term of former Rep. Brendan Boyle, who resigned after winning a seat in Congress. Prior to taking office, White was a financial adviser.
