HARRISBURG – Rep. Doyle Heffley (R-Carbon) today issued the following statement after Gov. Tom Wolf addressed a joint session of the House and Senate to encourage support for several bills seeking to address the state’s opioid epidemic.
“Today, Gov. Tom Wolf reiterated the importance of Pennsylvania’s public health crisis and expressed several steps that need to be taken in order to move forward. The governor specifically mentioned
House Bill 1698, a bill I authored which would require insurance coverage for abuse-deterrent opioids, and asked the Senate to swiftly pass the bill and send it to his desk. This is a bipartisan, bicameral issue which knows no socioeconomic bounds. With 10 lives being lost per day, every second counts on our journey to address Pennsylvania’s opioid epidemic.”
