WHAT: Rep. Stan Saylor (R-York), chairman of the House Education Committee, will hold a joint public hearing with the House Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee to consider the effects of amending the Public School Code by added a civics test graduation requirement based on the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services naturalization test.

WHO: Saylor and members of both committees. The following individuals will testify before the committee: Dr. Lucian Spataro, chair of the Civics Education Initiative; Hon. Marjorie Rendell, president of the Rendell Center for Civics and Civic Engagement; Thomas A. Brown, state commander, Veterans of Foreign Wars Department of Pennsylvania; Kit Watson, state adjutant of the American Legion Department of Pennsylvania; Jerry Oleksiak, president of the Pennsylvania State Education Association; Lee Ann Wentzel, superintendent of the Ridley School District, representing the Pennsylvania Association of School Administrators; John Callahan, assistant executive director of the Pennsylvania School Boards Association; and Dr. Paul M. Healey, executive director of the Pennsylvania Principals Association.
