HARRISBURG — Sponsored by Rep. Kathy Rapp (R-Warren/Crawford/Forest), a resolution officially designating the week of Sept. 18-24, 2016, as “Surgical Technologist Week” in Pennsylvania unanimously passed the state House on Monday.

“Serving in a number of capacities, surgical technologists play an extremely vital role in hospitals and operating rooms across this Commonwealth,” said Rapp. “It is fitting that these highly dedicated professionals receive recognition for their contributions and commitment to delivering quality patient care.”

House Resolution 998 also recognizes that as technological advances lead to new surgical procedures, employment of surgical technologists is expected to grow faster than the average for all other occupations. Currently, 18 programs in surgical technology are offered throughout the Commonwealth graduating quality students annually.
