Session marks beginning of 205th Pennsylvania General Assembly
HARRISBURG – Rep. Bob Brooks (R-Allegheny/Westmoreland) today was sworn in as state representative of the 54th Legislative District. This will be Brooks’ second full term in office.
“I am grateful for the trust placed in me by the residents of the district, and I am anxious to begin our legislative process in these challenging times,” said Brooks. “I will continue to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to create commonsense policies that will benefit all Pennsylvania citizens.”
Brooks said the top priority for the coming 2021-22 session will be to get the economy back to running at peak efficiency. He also listed job growth, education and election reform as challenges that must be faced.
“The coronavirus pandemic has caused businesses to close and workers to lose their jobs,” said Brooks. “That has to change immediately. We cannot allow our businesses to go bankrupt; our youth to lose a year or possibly two years of education that cannot be made up by our current system; home renters be evicted or rental companies go bankrupt; the poor and elderly to go without nutritious food; and a person’s savings account to become non-existent or be forced to borrow money to survive. We all need to join forces to once again make Pennsylvania the best state to live, work and play.”
Brooks operates two district offices located at 2879 Leechburg Road, Units B&C in Lower Burrell, telephone 724-335-2790, and 3091 Carson Ave., Murrysville Community Center in Murrysville, telephone 724-387-1281. The Lower Burrell office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and the Murrysville office is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
“My staff is happy and eager to help anyone who walks through the door or calls or emails us,” said Brooks.
Prior to his career as a legislator, Brooks divided his professional time between his work as mayor of Murrysville and continues to serve on the board of directors for several nonprofit philanthropic organizations. He serves on the Wabtec and First National Bank-Pittsburgh board of directors and is a Trustee at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster. Brooks has ownership of several major and minor league sports teams as part of the Brooks Sports Group.
