HARRISBURG – Rep. Carrie Lewis DelRosso (R-Allegheny/Westmoreland) issued the following statement regarding her budget priorities after Gov. Tom Wolf delivered his annual budget address via a pre-recorded video on Wednesday:

“From his proposed Personal Income Tax increase to his plan to triple tax the natural gas industry, Gov. Tom Wolf wants more of the Commonwealth’s hard-earned tax dollars at a time when money is tighter than ever for many working-class families.

“Rather, we need to focus on how our state government can provide more transparency about where the funding already being collected is going and how it’s being used. Rarely are government weaknesses related to a lack of funding but instead to funding that isn’t used as wisely as it should be.

“PA taxpayers want good jobs and a growing economy, which only promotes return on investment, as well as smart spending. Most importantly, this creates self-sustaining communities which don’t require increased local government funding to survive. I will continue to preserve the Commonwealth’s fiscally responsible priorities.

“Wolf’s Department of Health-led vaccination plan was less than mediocre, despite the resources that western PA has: specifically, health care providers with Allegheny Health Network and UPMC. We need to get the COVID-19 vaccine off of shelves and into arms. That’s why my colleagues and I are voting on legislation this week to put the National Guard in charge of establishing vaccination sites in each county and assisting local health officials with logistics. We must take steps to return to ‘normal’ now.”
