HARRISBURG – Rep. Todd Polinchock (R-Bucks) says the governor’s budget proposal to increase taxes, while Pennsylvania ranks at the bottom fifth of states on vaccine dispersion, is a disappointing response.

Gov. Tom Wolf’s 2021-22 budget proposal seeks a 46% increase in the Personal Income Tax (PIT), a new tax on the energy industry and a 7.4% increase in spending over the current year’s budget.

“Small businesses and the middle class have been devastated by the governors shut down orders for the past year, we cannot afford to have them be targeted for tax increases as well,” Polinchock said.

“Now is not the time to be discussing taxing the people of Pennsylvania. Our neighbors in every corner of the state have been searching for answers as to why they aren’t able to secure a vaccine and protection from this deadly virus. The Commonwealth deserves better and I hope there is a quick solution around the corner rather than a tax hike,” he continued “The main thing we need to be worried about is not raising taxes but improving distribution speed for the COVID-19 vaccine.”
