HARRISBURG – Rep. Gary W. Day (R-Lehigh/Berks) announces the record high funding allocated for preK-12 education in the 2021-22 state budget.
“Education is a fundamental part of our community and each year I have fought to prioritize education funding,” said Day. “We have made a commitment to protecting taxpayers while being able to increase the funding to our schools and our students. This record funding for preK-12 education prepares tomorrow’s workforce by funneling $13.6 billion into Basic Education Funding. The funding offers over $19 million for public schools across the 187th Legislative District. This budget keeps Pennsylvania’s fiscal future secure, while preparing our students and teachers for a thriving comeback from the COVID-19 pandemic.”
The 2021-22 state budget education funding is broken down as follows:
Basic Education received $7 billion ($300 million increase).
Early Childhood Education received $311.5 million ($30 million increase).
Special Education received $1.24 billion ($50 million increase).
School districts across the 187th Legislative District received $19.07 million in Basic Education Funding ($1.22 million increase).
