Jun. 25, 2018
WHAT: House State Government Committee Chairman Daryl Metcalfe (R-Butler); Rep. Jerry Knowles (R-Berks/Carbon/Schuylkill), prime sponsor of House Bill 153; and other lawmakers will hold a press conference to call for immediate legislative action to allow the people of Pennsylvania to decide whether to reduce the size of one of the nation’s largest full-time state legislatures.
House Bill 153 would amend the Pennsylvania Constitution to reduce the number of seats in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 203 to 151. If the PA House votes later today to approve this historic legislation on concurrence, the question of whether to reduce the House will go before voters as a ballot referendum in the November 2018 general election.
