HARRISBURG – Rep. Dan Moul (R-Adams) voted with the overwhelming majority in the House today to approve legislation to permit physicians to recommend medical marijuana to patients with certain qualifying illnesses. The vote was 149-46.
Senate Bill 3, which is now on its way to the governor’s desk, proposes to address the suffering of children with seizure disorders, veterans with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy among others.
The medicinal strain would be available from centers licensed by a new state board. So far, 23 states have authorized some form of legalized use of medical marijuana.
