HARRISBURG – Rep. Rosemary Brown (R-Monroe/Pike) questions Pennsylvania’s financial future after the governor announced a massive spending plan in the following statement:

“During yesterday’s budget address, I had the honor of escorting the governor into our House Chamber where he put forward his spending requests before the House and Senate,” said Brown. “Pennsylvania taxpayers put their trust in us to use their hard-earned money both efficiently and sparingly. However, during today’s address the governor presented a plan ($43.7 billion in total spending) that is focused on spending in abundance. This budget is almost a 17% increase over last year, which equates to approximately $17 million a day. That is a lot of excess spending.

“It is my hope that just as we escorted him to our chamber and listened to his proposals, he will show us the same courtesy as we continue to work collectively as a team to give Pennsylvania a budget that is both mindful of spending and provides necessary funding for critical programs and services in the Commonwealth. The taxpayers deserve fiscal responsibility and honesty.”
