HARRISBURG- The York County House Delegation applauds the state Senate for consideration and passage of Senate Bill 501, legislation that would prevent the collection of money to be used for political contributions from a public employee’s paycheck.
State Reps. Seth Grove (R-Dover), Kate Klunk (R-Hanover), Kristin Phillips-Hill (R-York Township), Mike Regan (R-Dillsburg), Stan Saylor (R-Red Lion), and Keith Gillespie (R-Hellam) issued the following statement:
“Today, the state Senate took an important step for good government—keeping official government business and electoral politics separate, with the passage of paycheck protection legislation. Government resources should not be used to collect any money for political contributions and this is nearly universally true, with the exception of public sector unions.
“There is nothing wrong with anyone making a political contribution, including union members, but it must be a level playing field. Unions should not be given a special carve out. This legislation would end that.
“We urge House Leadership to bring this legislation up for consideration and ask for our colleagues’ support to send it to the governor’s desk without delay.”
