HARRISBURG – Following the defeat of Gov. Tom Wolf’s billion-dollar tax proposal, Rep. Nick Miccarelli (R-Delaware) today issued this statement:
“Today’s vote was all about making sure that we keep the burden of $3 billion in higher income taxes over the next two years off the hard-working taxpayers of Pennsylvania. The residents I represent in Delaware County are hard-working citizens who don’t deserve a 16 percent income tax directly coming out of their paychecks. They deserve better.
“With Day 100 of the budget impasse on Thursday, we must find a compromise in order to fund our schools and help our struggling human services. I’m keeping an open mind on our next steps and am looking forward to working on a reasonable, responsible spending plan and revenue package that meets our citizens’ needs without handing them a bigger bill. We can do this, and we should do it in the most expedient way possible without resorting to any more blame.”
