HARRISBURG – Rep. Stan Saylor (R-York) has been appointed to the Education Commission of the States for the 2015-16 legislative session.
The appointment was officially made Friday by House Speaker Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) in a letter to Jeremy Anderson, president of the Education Commission of the States. Saylor is also the chairman of the House Education Committee.
“The education of our children is my paramount concern and it is a privilege to have been named to the commission and have the opportunity to share education policy goals and ideas and learn from others,” Saylor said. “From the day I became chairman of the Education Committee, I said my priority as chairman will be balancing a first-rate education for our students with fiscal accountability of our constituent tax dollars, and I will bring that perspective with me to this organization.”
Based in Denver, Colorado, the Education Commission of the States provides unbiased research of schools and important education issues so that lawmakers and policy makers around the country can learn from others what works best and how to provide the most effective education for their students.
