HARRISBURG – Rep. Josh Bashline (R-Clarion/Armstrong) announced his commonsense amendment to ease costs for armed forces members and their families was adopted unanimously by the House.

“As a veteran of the Pennsylvania National Guard, I recognize the sacrifices service members and their families make to ensure we are protected here at home,” said Bashline. “I appreciate everyone who goes above and beyond to answer the call of duty, and it is important to me to help them as much as I can.”

Bashline offered his amendment to House Bill 1402, which would cap Pennsylvania Department of Education teacher certification fees at $50.

Currently, armed forces members (including reserves or National Guard), veterans and spouses of armed forces members and veterans are only required to pay $35 in teacher certification fees. Bashline’s amendment waives these fees for Armed Forces members (including reserves or National Guard), veterans and spouses of Armed Forces members and veterans.

House Bill 1402 is pending final consideration in the House. Bashline’s amendment was adopted unanimously.
