HARRISBURG – In response to the budget approved yesterday by the Democrat-controlled House, Rep. Jeff Olsommer (R-Wayne/Pike) today issued the following statement:
“While the proposed budget is nearly $1 billion less than Gov. Josh Shapiro’s original proposal, it still spends $5 billion more than the Commonwealth is projected to bring in through revenue. That is simply unsustainable — and it’s not how families or small businesses in our districts manage their budgets.
“There’s more work to do. House Republicans believe we can close this gap responsibly by:
1. Unleashing Pennsylvania’s untapped energy potential to attract new industries, create jobs and generate new revenue.
2. Ensuring benefit integrity so that critical safety net programs are preserved for those who truly need them.
3. Supporting educational pathways that prepare students for the in-demand jobs of today and tomorrow.
“We owe it to the people of Pennsylvania to build a budget that is balanced, sustainable and focused on real growth. I look forward to continuing the work ahead to get the job done for the people of the Commonwealth.”
The House passed
House Bill 1330 by a 105-97 vote and sent it to the Senate for its consideration.
