Every child deserves to grow up safe, loved and whole. That’s a truth we all claim to agree on, regardless of party.

But right now, across Pennsylvania and the nation, children are being subjected to harmful drugs and irreversible surgeries under the banner of so-called “gender-affirming care.” These procedures, often involving puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, double mastectomies, and sterilizing genital surgeries, are being carried out on minors who are not old enough to vote, drive, get a tattoo or even purchase cold medicine on their own.

I stand for protecting kids. Gov. Josh Shapiro wants to experiment on them, and he wants to use your tax dollars to do it. He has chosen to side with radical activists and medical extremists by joining a lawsuit against President Donald Trump’s administration, fighting to force federal funding for so-called “gender-affirming care” for minors.

This is not compassion. It is barbaric. And it is a grotesque abuse of power.

While Pennsylvania families struggle to put food on the table, pay their heating bills, and afford school supplies, Gov. Shapiro has decided this is where your money should go: toward castration and genital mutilation of children who are not even old enough to get a driver’s license.

It is beyond outrageous. It is a moral disgrace. And as a Commonwealth, we must send Gov. Shapiro a clear and unmistakable signal: We reject his reckless and dangerous obsession with the physical torture of children in the name of politics.

Our state should be a safe place to raise a family, not a testing ground for irreversible medical experiments on vulnerable minors. And every elected official in Pennsylvania who claims to care about kids should be condemning this immediately and forcefully.

These are minors, many struggling with anxiety, depression, or trauma, who are being told that the solution to their pain is to permanently alter their healthy bodies. They are put on puberty blockers that disrupt normal development. They are undergoing surgeries that destroy healthy tissue and remove functioning organs.

This is not health care. This is child abuse.

The goal of any medical intervention, especially for children, should always be to help, not to harm. And when a child is in crisis or questioning their identity, our response should be rooted in mental health care, compassion and long-term well-being. These kids deserve real help, therapy, support, and hope, not hormones and surgeries.

No child is born in the wrong body. And no child should be subjected to the lifelong consequences of adult ideology and political agendas.

What Gov. Shapiro is doing is not only medically irresponsible, it’s morally repugnant. He is fighting for the disfigurement of children. He is prioritizing political theater over the safety and health of minors. And he is doing it with your money.

As a mother, a neighbor and a legislator, I will not stand by in silence. Pennsylvania must choose: Will we stand on the side of truth and protect the innocence of our children? Or will we continue down a path of mutilation, manipulation, and medical malpractice, all dressed up as “progress”?

We must speak up now: loudly, clearly and unapologetically.

If you believe children deserve real care, not radical experimentation, then raise your voice.

You can call the governor’s office at 717-787-2500.

You can text the governor at 717-788-8990.

You can also contact your state senator and representative. If you’re not sure who represents you in Harrisburg, you can visit PaLegis.us/find-my-legislator to find out.

Tell them Pennsylvania rejects this madness. Tell them our children are not political props. Tell them we will not be silent while Gov. Shapiro and the radical left bankrolls the abuse of kids.

Children are our most vulnerable citizens, and they should be able to depend on adults to protect them when they cannot protect themselves. Let’s be the adults in the room. Let’s protect children. Let’s help them, not harm them.
