HARRISBURG – Rep. Tim Bonner (R-Mercer/Butler) issued the following statement regarding the killing of three police officers in York County on Wednesday, September 17.

“I am deeply saddened by the murder of three law enforcement officers in York County yesterday. I am also praying for the families of these slain officers and for the speedy recovery of the two officers who were wounded to make a full recovery.

The men and women who put the uniform on uphold the Rule of Law and the safety of our communities, and any attack on them is an attack on all members of our community and on the Rule of Law.

Our police officers work each day knowing the risks yet remain committed to protecting our communities. Our nation, founded on the Rule of Law, cannot exist without those who will enforce the laws.

Nationwide, we have had more than 60 officers killed in the line of duty this year. According to the Associated Press, this most recent tragedy represents one of the worst attacks on law enforcement in our Commonwealth in the past 100 years.

My thoughts and prayers are with the law enforcement community across our great Commonwealth, as well as the families and loved ones of the fallen and wounded officers during this time of unimaginable loss.

May God bless our police and the United States of America.”
