HARRISBURG – A resolution sponsored by Rep. Dane Watro (R-Luzerne/Schuylkill) to recognize Nov. 11, 2025, as Veterans Day in Pennsylvania was advanced to the full House of Representatives today.

“This resolution reaffirms our Commonwealth’s commitment to honoring the service and sacrifice of all U.S. military veterans past and present,” said Watro of his House Resolution 15. “Veterans Day is more than just a date on the calendar. It is a solemn reminder of the courage, duty and sacrifice of those who have worn the uniform of our nation.”

Observed annually on Nov. 11, Veterans Day marks the armistice that ended World War I in 1918. It has since evolved into a day to honor all who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Pennsylvania is home to nearly 800,000 veterans, one of the largest veteran populations in the country.

“As a U.S. Army veteran, I’ve seen firsthand the sacrifices required to preserve our way of life. I’ve also witnessed the strength of military families who carry the quiet burden of service with grace,” Watro said. “This resolution is a small but meaningful way to remember those we’ve lost, thank those who defended and are still defending our freedoms, and ensure their service is never forgotten.”

With the unanimous approval of the House Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee on Monday, the resolution awaits consideration by the full House.
