HARRISBURG – House Resolution 15, sponsored by Rep. Dane Watro (R-Luzerne/Schuylkill) to recognize Nov. 11, 2025, as Veterans Day in Pennsylvania was unanimously approved today by the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.

“Throughout our history, there are countless stories of those who fought and bled for our nation and its future,” said Watro on the House floor during consideration of the resolution. “It’s estimated over 1.1 million military service members have made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our nation since its founding, and countless more have made sacrifices of their own and lived to tell the tale.”

Observed annually on Nov. 11, Veterans Day marks the armistice that ended World War I in 1918. It has since evolved into a day to honor all who have served in the United States Armed Forces.

“We should not just look to the past for honor and sacrifice,” Watro said. “Here, in the present, there are over 15.8 million veterans and of that number, there are nearly 700,000 veterans here in Pennsylvania, each of which serves as a pillar of their community and has made sacrifices of their own.

“It is in recognizing those sacrifices that we can further appreciate how the bravery and valor of these individuals have allowed our nation and Commonwealth to remain prosperous and free.”
