DOVER – Rep. Seth Grove (R-Dover) sends his thanks to congressional representatives of York County for their vote to reopen the federal government in the following statement:
“Our Congressional delegation, consisting of Sens. John Fetterman (D-PA) and Dave McCormick (R-PA), and Reps. Scott Perry (R-York) and Lloyd Smucker (R-Lancaster), that represents York County voted in a bipartisan fashion to reopen the federal government. On behalf of the residents of the 196th Legislative District, I send thanks for their efforts.
“Unfortunately, the 13th time voting to reopen government was not the charm we were hoping for. As they continue their work reaching a compromise, I wish them the best and urge them to continue to do what is best for the people of the nation.
“There have been numerous comparisons drawn between the budgetary stalemates at the federal and state levels. Here in Pennsylvania, I mapped out a path toward ending our budget impasse in the form of the Reconciliation Budget. This proposal would lock in the already agreed to funding, which accounts for 53% of the total budget proposals we’ve voted on, with the remaining line items receiving partial funding. This would allow needed dollars to flow to agencies and organizations as a full, final budget is negotiated.
“I urge my fellow state representatives and senators to take a page from the bipartisan playbook we saw at the federal level and work to move the Reconciliation Budget forward.”
