HARRISBURG – Residents of Crawford and Erie counties will have their voices heard on important issues handled by four influential state House committees state Rep. Brad Roae (R-Crawford/Erie) will serve on during the 2015-16 legislative session.

Roae today was appointed to serve on the House Finance, State Government, Insurance and Human Services committees.

“It’s important for our area to have a voice on the important decisions that will be made by the state Legislature during the next two years,” Roae said. “Because of my experience and seniority, I was granted my top three committee choices.”

The House Finance Committee reviews and considers legislation dealing with individual and business taxes, incentives and revenue-related changes to state laws.

“I’ve been a fiscal watchdog for years and enjoy sorting through the details involved in ensuring Pennsylvania’s tax policies work for residents and employers,” Roae said.

The House State Government Committee deals with bills related to government reform and election processes.

“I continue to be an outspoken voice for legislative reforms to ensure Pennsylvania’s government is more open and transparent,” Roae said.

Prior to serving in the state Legislature, from August 1992 to November 2006, Roae was a commercial underwriter with Erie Insurance. That professional experience will help him fulfill his service on the House Insurance Committee.

“I am familiar with insurance industry policies and procedures, which is helpful as the committee considers legislation that affects this important sector of our society,” Roae said.

Roae also will serve on the House Human Services Committee, which reviews legislation to help Pennsylvania residents who require government assistance.

“Pennsylvanians are willing to help people who are truly in need,” Roae said. “At the same time, taxpayers expect government to work to ensure able-bodied people aren’t taking advantage of the system.”
