HARRISBURG – Speaker of the House Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny County) today issued the following statement regarding the governor’s appointment of long-time Senate staffer Erik Arneson as the new executive director of the Pennsylvania Office of Open Records. The current director, Terry Mutchler, has taken a position in the private sector.

“Erik Arneson is a wonderful choice to head up the Office of Open Records. As we have gotten to know Erik over the years, we have found him to be helpful, forthright, concise and passionate. He knows the issues surrounding open records better than most as he was one of the lead staffers in the development of the updated Right-To-Know Law. Erik supervised the total overhaul of the General Assembly’s now award-winning website at www.legis.state.pa.us, and he brought better transparency to the reapportionment process by putting the state data and maps online.

“Erik is a dedicated individual who will serve the Commonwealth well, and I can’t think of a better person to succeed Terry Mutchler.”
